I have been drinking lemon water every morning for years as a simple liver detox. It helps flush out some of the fluoride and other toxins we are exposed to on a daily basis.
Lemon juice is considered a natural diuretic and can help flush and cleanse the urinary tract. By reducing these toxins, you can help your body avoid health problems like urinary tract infections and digestion issues.
If you’re having a hard time losing weight, drinking lemon water on a daily basis helps reduce your appetite.
Lemon juice is also good for the skin. The acid in the lemon contains the antioxidants that are responsible for flushing out toxins that cause aging skin.
Why Detox the Liver
The liver is the main organ responsible for distributing and maintaining the body’s “fuel” supply. In addition it acts as a cleansing device to remove toxins from the body.
When we consume and are exposed to too much sugar, caffeine, processed foods, fluoride, vaccines, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, cosmetics, dioxins, stress, and too little exercise, the body’s natural detox function slows to a crawl. Now your body can’t clean itself and these toxins are recycled back into your body and are left to percolate into health issues.
When the body has reached its limit to detox, it begins to retain fluids to help trap and neutralize noxious substances that the liver can no longer remove from the body. This helps the person to survive a major, possibly fatal, toxicity crisis such as a heart attack, septic poisoning, or massive infection. The side effect of fluid retention in the tissues is that it causes these toxins and other harmful waste matter to accumulate in various parts of the body and further congest the pathways of circulation and elimination. Wherever in the body the storage capacity for toxins and waste is exceeded, symptoms of illness begin to occur. ~ Andreas Moritz
Symptoms of a Toxic Body
You could be suffering from toxic overload if you are experiencing an of these:
- Memory decline
- Difficulty focusing
- Allergies and infections
- Anxiety and depression
- Weight gain or weight loss
- Muscle and joint pain or weakness
- Skin rashes and outbreaks
- Yeast and fungal infections
- Abdominal bloating, and indigestion
In my case, I suffered from red bumps on my scalp, allergies, sinus infections, weight gain, muscle and joint pain, and other ailments. I tried everything I could to get rid of the red bumps on my scalp and nothing worked. This is a sign that the root cause of the issue is inside your body. These toxins have no place to go except to find the weakest points and “erupt” in those locations.
It’s important to know that simply drinking your daily dose of lemon water may not cure your symptoms. If not, then a full liver and gallbladder cleanse is needed.
Lemon Water Detox
This is a very simple process. To get the full advantage, I like to fast for at least 12 hours every night. This help to promote promote insulin sensitivity.
Optimal insulin sensitivity is crucial for your health, as insulin resistance or poor insulin sensitivity contributes to nearly all chronic diseases. www.mercola.com
My last meal is eaten by 6pm and then I don’t eat anything else until the following morning. Simple fast – right?
When I get up in the morning, the first thing I do is juice a half lemon in 8oz of room temperature filtered water. Then wait at least an hour to have breakfast.
That’s it! Easy, peasy.
My Juicing Routine
I purchase 8-10 organic lemons for the week. If you don’t use organic lemons, you will be adding more toxins to your body and defeating the purpose!
I juice my lemons by hand using this old pewter juicer. Notice how the design catches some of the seeds.
Store your lemon juice in a glass container to prevent toxins from leaching in from plastic or other types of containers. I save glass containers from products I have purchased.
Manual Lemon Squeezer
Besides my vintage pewter juicer, I also have two heavy metal manual lemon and lime squeezers that I love (unfortunately, they’re currently sitting in storage!). I purchased them over ten years ago when they first came out, so I don’t like that I had to purchase separate units for each due to the size difference between lemons and limes. They squeeze all the juice out of the citrus leaving the pulp and seeds behind.
Using a manual citrus squeezer is much less work and faster than using the vintage type juicers! For now, I guess I have talked myself into the positive aspects of using my vintage model…. I’m standing longer!
I would much prefer to have this new Zulay Premium Quality Metal Lemon Lime Squeezer – it can accommodate both lemons and limes with one unit! And, it has received all 5-star reviews from happy customers.
How to Store Your Lemon Juice
You can store your lemon juice in the refrigerator during the week. If you have juiced more than one container, you can put it in the freezer – it defrosts very well by just sitting in the refrigerator for two days.
Some people like to pour their lemon juice into freezer ice trays and then store them in plastic bags, but I prefer to avoid plastic as much as I can. Plastic – even BPA free – leaches toxic chemicals into anything you store in them.
Have you tried a lemon water detox? Leave a comment and let me know how your body responded.
P.S. You can do lemon water detoxes every day to cleanse your body of toxins. This is safe as long as you are eating regular meals and it’s best when processed foods are avoided. I do not recommend the lemon water and cayenne detox that restricts food intake. I haven’t tried it because I don’t know anything about it. What I currently use to detox my body works for me and therefore, I have no need to try something new.
